The Rat (CAMK 2) Calcium/Calmodulin-dependent Protein Kinase-2 ELISA Kit measures Calcium/Calmodulin-Dependent Protein Kinase-2 in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat CAMKK2 antibody. CAMKK2 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat CAMKK2 Antibody is added and binds to CAMKK2 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated CAMKK2 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat CAMKK2. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

BackgroundCalcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase belonging to a proposed calcium-triggered signaling cascade involved in a number of cellular processes. Phosphorylates CAMK1 and CAMK4. Phosphorylates CAMK1D (By similarity). Seems to be involved in hippocampal activation of CREB1 (By similarity). Efficiently phosphorylates 5'-AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) trimer, including that consisting of PRKAA1, PRKAB1 and PRKAG1. This phosphorylation is stimulated in response to Ca(2+) signals. May play a role in neurite growth. Isoform 2 may promote neurite elongation, while isoform 1 may promoter neurite branching. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
