The Rat (CAV-3) Caveolin 3 ELISA Kit measures Caveolin 3 in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat CAV3 antibody. CAV3 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat CAV3 Antibody is added and binds to CAV3 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated CAV3 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat CAV3. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

May also regulate voltage-gated potassium Channels. Plays a role in the sarcolemma repair mechanism of both skeletal muscle and cardiomyocytes that permits rapid resealing of membranes disrupted by mechanical stress.
