The Rat (CORIN) Atrial Natriuretic Peptide-converting Enzyme ELISA Kit measures Atrial Natriuretic Peptide-Converting Enzyme in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat CORIN antibody. CORIN present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat CORIN Antibody is added and binds to CORIN in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated CORIN antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat CORIN. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Serine-type endopeptidase involved in atrial natriuretic Peptide (NPPA) processing (PubMed: 17660514). Converts through proteolytic cleavage the non-functional propeptide NPPA into the active hormone, thereby regulating blood pressure in heart and promoting natriuresis, diuresis and vasodilation (By similarity). Proteolytic cleavage of pro-NPPA also plays a role in female pregnancy by promoting trophoblast invasion and spiral artery remodeling in uterus (By similarity).
