Rat GGT1 (Gamma Glutamyl Transpeptidase 1) ELISA Kit
Rat GGT1 (Gamma Glutamyl Transpeptidase 1) ELISA Kit
The Rat (GGT1) Gamma Glutamyl Transpeptidase 1 ELISA Kit measures Gamma Glutamyl Transpeptidase 1 in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat GGT1 antibody. GGT1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat GGT1 Antibody is added and binds to GGT1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated GGT1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat GGT1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Cleaves the gamma-glutamyl bond of extracellular glutathione (gamma-Glu-Cys-Gly), glutathione conjugates and other gamma-glutamyl compounds, such as leukotriene C4 (LTC4). The metabolism of glutathione by GGT1 releases free glutamate and the dipeptide cysteinyl-glycine, which is hydrolyzed to cysteine and glycine by dipeptidases. In the presence of high concentrations of dipeptides and some amino acids, can also catalyze a transpeptidation reaction, transferring the gamma-glutamyl moiety to an acceptor amino acid to form a new gamma-glutamyl compound. Contributes to cysteine homeostasis, glutathione homeostasis and in the conversion of the leukotriene LTC4 to LTD4. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
