Rat GLDN (Gliomedin) ELISA Kit
Rat GLDN (Gliomedin) ELISA Kit
The Rat (GLDN) Gliomedin ELISA Kit measures Gliomedin in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat GLDN antibody. GLDN present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat GLDN Antibody is added and binds to GLDN in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated GLDN antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat GLDN. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Ligand for NRCAM and NFASC/neurofascin that plays a role in the formation and maintenance of the nodes of Ranvier on myelinated axons. Mediates interaction between Schwann cell microvilli and axons via its interactions with NRCAM and NFASC (PubMed: 16039564). Nodes of Ranvier contain clustered sodium Channels that are crucial for the saltatory propagation of action potentials along myelinated axons. During development, nodes of Ranvier are formed by the fusion of two heminodes. Required for normal clustering of sodium Channels at heminodes; not required for the formation of mature nodes with normal sodium Channel clusters. Required, together with NRCAM, for maintaining NFASC and sodium Channel clusters at mature nodes of Ranvier (By similarity). Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
