The Rat (GSS) Glutathione Synthetase ELISA Kit measures Glutathione synthetase in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat GSS antibody. GSS present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat GSS Antibody is added and binds to GSS in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated GSS antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin- HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat GSS. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Glutathione synthetase (GSS) (EC 6.3.2.3) is the second enzyme in the glutathione (GSH) biosynthesis pathway. It catalyses the condensation of gamma-glutamylcysteine and glycine, to form glutathione.
