Rat MAPT (Microtubule Associated Protein Tau) ELISA Kit

Rat MAPT (Microtubule Associated Protein Tau) ELISA Kit

The Rat (MAPT) Microtubule Associated Protein Tau ELISA Kit measures Microtubule Associated Protein Tau in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat MAPt antibody. MAPt present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat MAPt Antibody is added and binds to MAPt in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated MAPt antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat MAPt. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Research Areas Neuroscience
Background Promotes microtubule assembly and stability, and might be involved in the establishment and maintenance of neuronal polarity. The C-terminus binds axonal microtubules while the N-terminus binds neural plasma membrane components, suggesting that tau functions as a linker protein between both. Axonal polarity is predetermined by tau localization (in the neuronal cell) in the domain of the cell body defined by the centrosome. The short isoforms allow plasticity of the cytoskeleton whereas the longer isoforms may preferentially play a role in its stabilization. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
