The Rat (MIP1A) Macrophage Inflammatory Protein 1Α ELISA Kit measures Macrophage Inflammatory Protein 1alpha in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat CCL3 antibody. CCL3 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat CCL3 Antibody is added and binds to CCL3 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated CCL3 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat CCL3. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Monokine with inflammatory and chemokinetic properties. Has chemotactic activity for monocytes, neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, and lymphocytes. Required for lung TNF-alpha production, neutrophil recruitment and subsequent lung injury and may function as an autocrine mediator for the macrophage production of TNF-alpha which in turn up-regulates vascular adhesion molecules required for neutrophil influx.
