Rat MMP-16 (Matrix Metalloproteinase-16) ELISA Kit
Rat MMP-16 (Matrix Metalloproteinase-16) ELISA Kit
The Rat (MMP-16) Matrix Metalloproteinase-16 ELISA Kit measures Matrix Metalloproteinase-16 in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat MMP16 antibody. MMP16 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat MMP16 Antibody is added and binds to MMP16 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated MMP16 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat MMP16. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Endopeptidase that degrades various components of the extracellular matrix, such as collagen type III and fibronectin. Activates progelatinase A. Involved in the matrix remodeling of blood vessels. The short isoform efficiently converts progelatinase A to the intermediate form but not to the mature one. It has no effect on type I, II, IV and V collagen. However, upon interaction with CSPG4, it may be involved in degradation and invasion of type I collagen by melanoma cells. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
