The Rat (MYL3) Myosin Light Chain 3 ELISA Kit measures Myosin Light Chain 3 in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat MYL3 antibody. MYL3 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat MYL3 Antibody is added and binds to MYL3 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated MYL3 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat MYL3. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Myosin essential light chain (ELC), ventricular/cardiac isoform is a protein that in humans is encoded by the MYL3 gene. This cardiac ventricular/slow skeletal ELC isoform is distinct from that expressed in fast skeletal muscle (MYL1) and cardiac atrial muscle (MYL4).
