Rat Orexin A ELISA Kit
Rat Orexin A ELISA Kit
The Rat Orexin A ELISA Kit measures Orexin A in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat HCRT antibody. HCRT present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat HCRT Antibody is added and binds to HCRT in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated HCRT antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat HCRT. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Neuropeptides that play a significant role in the regulation of food intake and sleep-wakefulness, possibly by coordinating the complex behavioral and physiologic responses of these complementary homeostatic functions. A broader role in the homeostatic regulation of energy metabolism, autonomic function, hormonal balance and the regulation of body fluids, is also suggested. A modulation effect on luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) secretion also suggests a more minor contribution to the regulation of reproductive function. Orexin-A binds to both OX1R and OX2R with a high affinity, whereas orexin-B binds only to OX2R with a similar high affinity. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
