The Rat (PCG-1A) Peroxisome Proliferator Activated Receptor Gamma Coactivator 1 Alpha ELISA Kit measures Peroxisome Proliferator Activated Receptor Gamma Coactivator 1 Alpha in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat PPARGC1A antibody. PPARGC1A present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat PPARGC1A Antibody is added and binds to PPARGC1A in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated PPARGC1A antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat PPARGC1A. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Induces the expression of PERM1 in the skeletal muscle in an ESRRA-dependent manner. Also involved in the integration of the circadian rhythms and energy metabolism. Required for oscillatory expression of clock genes, such as ARNTL/BMAL1 and NR1D1, through the coactivation of RORA and RORC, and metabolic genes, such as PDK4 and PEPCK (By similarity).
