The Rat (PDCD6) Programmed Cell Death Protein 6 ELISA Kit measures Programmed Cell Death Protein 6 in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat PDCD6 antibody. PDCD6 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat PDCD6 Antibody is added and binds to PDCD6 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated PDCD6 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat PDCD6. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Calcium sensor that plays a key role in processes such as endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-Golgi vesicular transport, endosomal biogenesis or membrane repair (By similarity). Acts as an adapter that bridges unrelated proteins or stabilizes weak protein-protein complexes in response to calcium: calcium-binding triggers exposure of apolar surface, promoting interaction with different sets of proteins thanks to 3 different hydrophobic pockets, leading to translocation to membranes (By similarity). In response to cytosolic calcium increase, the heterodimer formed with PEF1 interacts with, and bridges together the BCR(KLHL12) complex and SEC31 (SEC31A or SEC31B), promoting monoubiquitination of SEC31 and subsequent collagen export, which is required for neural crest specification (By similarity).
