The Rat (PLOD1) Procollagen-lysine, 2-oxoglutarate 5-dioxygenase 1 ELISA Kit measures Procollagen-lysine,2-oxoglutarate 5-dioxygenase 1 in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat PLOD1 antibody. PLOD1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat PLOD1 Antibody is added and binds to PLOD1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated PLOD1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat PLOD1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background Part of a complex composed of PLOD1, P3H3 and P3H4 that catalyzes hydroxylation of lysine residues in collagen alpha chains and is required for normal assembly and cross-linkling of collagen fibrils (By similarity). Forms hydroxylysine residues in -Xaa-Lys-Gly- sequences in collagens (PubMed:7578263). These hydroxylysines serve as sites of attachment for carbohydrate units and are essential for the stability of the intermolecular collagen cross-links (By similarity).
