The Rat (PRDX2) Peroxiredoxin 2 ELISA Kit measures Peroxiredoxin 2 in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat PRDX2 antibody. PRDX2 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat PRDX2 Antibody is added and binds to PRDX2 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated PRDX2 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat PRDX2. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Plays a role in cell protection against oxidative stress by detoxifying peroxides and as sensor of hydrogen peroxide-mediated signaling events.
