Rat SCD1 (Acyl-CoA Desaturase 1) ELISA Kit
Rat SCD1 (Acyl-CoA Desaturase 1) ELISA Kit
The Rat (SCD1) Acyl-CoA Desaturase 1 ELISA Kit measures Acyl-Coa Desaturase 1 in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat SCD1 antibody. SCD1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat SCD1 Antibody is added and binds to SCD1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated SCD1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat SCD1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Stearoyl-CoA desaturase that utilizes O(2) and electrons from reduced cytochrome b5 to introduce the first double bond into saturated fatty acyl-CoA substrates (PubMed: 2892838, PubMed: 7947684). Catalyzes the insertion of a cis double bond at the Delta-9 position into fatty acyl-CoA substrates including palmitoyl-CoA and stearoyl-CoA (PubMed: 2892838, PubMed: 7947684). Gives rise to a mixture of 16:1 and 18:1 unsaturated fatty acids. Plays an important role in lipid biosynthesis. Plays an important role in regulating the expression of genes that are involved in lipogenesis and in regulating mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation (By similarity). Plays an important role in body energy homeostasis (By similarity). Contributes to the biosynthesis of membrane phospholipids, cholesterol esters and triglycerides (PubMed: 7947684). Required for normal development of sebaceous glands. Required for the biosynthesis of normal levels of Delta-9 unsaturated fatty acids and 1-alkyl-2,3-diacylglycerol in the Harderian gland. Required for normal production of meibum, an oily material that prevents drying of the cornea (By similarity). Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
