Rat SDH (Sorbitol Dehydrogenase) ELISA Kit

Rat SDH (Sorbitol Dehydrogenase) ELISA Kit

The Rat (SDH) Sorbitol Dehydrogenase ELISA Kit measures Sorbitol Dehydrogenase in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat SORD antibody. SORD present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat SORD Antibody is added and binds to SORD in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated SORD antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat SORD. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background Polyol dehydrogenase that catalyzes the reversible NAD(+)-dependent oxidation of various sugar alcohols (By similarity). Is active with D-sorbitol (D-glucitol) leading to the C2-oxidized product D-fructose (PubMed: 6862079). Is a key enzyme in the polyol pathway that interconverts glucose and fructose via sorbitol, which constitutes an important alternate route for glucose metabolism. May play a role in sperm motility by using sorbitol as an alternative energy source for sperm motility (By similarity). Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
