The Rat (SFRP4) Secreted Frizzled Related Protein 4 ELISA Kit measures Secreted Frizzled Related Protein 4 in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat SFRP4 antibody. SFRP4 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat SFRP4 Antibody is added and binds to SFRP4 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated SFRP4 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat SFRP4. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Soluble frizzled-related proteins (sFRPS) function as modulators of Wnt signaling through direct interaction with Wnts. They have a role in regulating cell growth and differentiation in specific cell types (By similarity). SFRP4 plays a role in bone morphogenesis (By similarity). May also act as a regulator of adult uterine morphology and function (PubMed: 12063187). May also increase apoptosis during ovulation possibly through modulation of FZ1/FZ4/WNT4 signaling (PubMed: 12960062).
