Rat SP-B (Pulmonary Surfactant-associated Protein B) ELISA Kit
Rat SP-B (Pulmonary Surfactant-associated Protein B) ELISA Kit
The Rat (SP-B) Pulmonary Surfactant-associated Protein B ELISA Kit measures Pulmonary Surfactant-Associated Protein B in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat SFTPB antibody. SFTPB present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat SFTPB Antibody is added and binds to SFTPB in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated SFTPB antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat SFTPB. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Pulmonary surfactant-associated proteins promote alveolar stability by lowering the surface tension at the air-liquid interface in the peripheral air spaces. SP-B increases the collapse pressure of palmitic acid to nearly 70 millinewtons per meter. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
