The Rat (STXBP1) Syntaxin-Bingding Protein 1 ELISA Kit measures Syntaxin-Bingding Protein 1 in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat STXBP1 antibody. STXBP1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat STXBP1 Antibody is added and binds to STXBP1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated STXBP1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat STXBP1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Participates in the regulation of synaptic vesicle docking and fusion through interaction with GTP-binding proteins (PubMed: 21689256). Essential for neurotransmission and binds syntaxin, a component of the synaptic vesicle fusion machinery probably in a 1:1 ratio. Can interact with syntaxins 1, 2, and 3 but not syntaxin 4.
