The Rat (SYT2) Synaptotagmin 2 ELISA Kit measures Synaptotagmin 2 in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat SYT2 antibody. SYT2 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat SYT2 Antibody is added and binds to SYT2 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated SYT2 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat SYT2. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Exhibits calcium-dependent phospholipid and inositol polyphosphate binding properties. May have a regulatory role in the membrane interactions during trafficking of synaptic vesicles at the active zone of the synapse. Plays a role in dendrite formation by melanocytes.
