Rat XBP1 (X-Box Binding Protein 1) ELISA Kit
The Rat (XBP1) X-Box Binding Protein 1 ELISA Kit measures X-Box Binding Protein 1 in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat XBP1 antibody. XBP1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat XBP1 Antibody is added and binds to XBP1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated XBP1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat XBP1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Functions as a transcription factor during endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress by regulating the unfolded protein response (UPR). Required for cardiac myogenesis and hepatogenesis during embryonic development, and the development of secretory tissues such as exocrine pancreas and salivary gland. Involved in terminal differentiation of B lymphocytes to plasma cells and production of immunoglobulins. Modulates the cellular response to ER stress in a PIK3R-dependent manner. Binds to the cis-acting X box present in the promoter regions of major histocompatibility complex class II genes. Involved in VEGF-induced endothelial cell (EC) proliferation and retinal blood vessel formation during embryonic development but also for angiogenesis in adult tissues under ischemic conditions.
